Free Shamrock Tote Bag Crochet Pattern

I have been pretty busy the past few weeks working on several new designs. Here is one of my favorites, just in time for St. Paddy’s Day.

I made tote bags out of the patterns, you can also turn them into a throw pillow or use the motif for an afghan.

Materials needed:

5.5 mm Hook

I used approximately 650 yards of crafters secret acrylic medium weight yarn

 

Scissors

Yarn needle

This pattern is written in US terms

Stitches used:

CH = Chain

SC = Single Crochet

HDC = Half Double Crochet

Bobble = Half Double Crochet Bobble

 

Special Stitch:

Half Double Crochet Bobble stitch: This stitch is worked from the wrong side.

Yarn over, pick up a loop in stitch, draw through first 2 loops on hook, you will still

have 2 loops on hook, yarn over, pull up loop, draw through first two loops on

hook, you will have 3 loops left on hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, draw through

first two loops on hook, you will have 4 loops on hook, yarn over, pull up a loop,

draw through first two loops on hook, yarn over draw through all 5 loops on hook,

Bobble stitch is now complete.

The chain 1 does not count as a stitch in this pattern

Fold piece in half with the right sides facing each other.

Sew the sides together

 

Strap (make 2)

The strap is 15 inches long. If you would like a longer or shorter strap just add or subtract from the beginning chain.

Chain 60

HDC in the second chain from hook and in each stitch across. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

Attach strap to the inside of the tote.
