My Heart is Yours Hat, Free Crochet Pattern

Here is the My Heart is Yours Hat Pattern. Please make sure that you read all of the pattern notes before you start. When you are finished you can find the matching scarf by Clicking here.

Materials needed:

5 mm Crochet hook

Aran or worsted weight yarn approximately

Scissors

Yarn needle

Pom pom or pouf for the top of the hat if desired

Stitches used:

Ch = Chain

HDC = Half Double Crochet

Bobble = Half Double Crochet Bobble

SS = Slip Stitch

FPHDC = Front Post Half Double Crochet

BPHDC = Back Post Half Double Crochet

Gauge Swatch: W 6 stitches = 2 inches

L 6 rows = 2 inches

Row : chain 7, HDC in the second chain from hook and the next 5 stitches, turn

Rows 2-6: HDC in each stitch across 6 HDC per row

Special Stitch:

Half Double Crochet Bobble stitch: This stitch is worked from the wrong side. Yarn over, pick up a loop in stitch, draw through first 2 loops on hook, you will still have 2 loops on hook, yarn over, pull up loop, draw through first two loops on hook, you will have 3 loops left on hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, draw through first two loops on hook, you will have 4 loops on hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, draw through first two loops on hook, yarn over draw through all 5 loops on hook. Bobble stitch is now complete.

Pattern Notes:

1. This pattern is worked in rounds from the top down

2. Unlike my other bobble stitch patterns there is no chain 1 at the start of each round

If you are more comfortable chaining 1 and then please do so. Do not count that chain 1 as a stitch

3. You will be joining each round with a slip stitch

4. For the first 8 rounds you are not turning after each round

5. The first 8 rounds are increasing the hat size by 8 stitches in each round. When you see “2 HDC” it means that you will be putting 2 HDC into the same stitch

6. When you see (HDC) x 2 (or any other number) it means that you are making a HDC into the next 2 (3, 4, etc.) consecutive stitches. Not into the same stitch.
